H14 HEPA FILTER PANELS – 68mm DEEP:

Meet the highest standards of air purity and germ-free environment in your clean space.

HEPA filters are used for terminal filter applications, such as in Laminar Flow Hoods / Clean workbenches as well as in positively pressured clean rooms, where both high standards of cleanliness and a controlled, non turbulent air flow is required, e.g. low turbulence displacement ventilation (laminar flow).

In the construction of these filters, high grade glass fiber paper with various degrees of dust extraction efficiency is used as the fiber media. The mini pleat filter panels are supplied in the filter class H14, in accordance with EN1822 and in a protective grid construction, with gaskets on both sides of the panel.

Unlike the deep fold type which rely on crimped separators to form the pleated pack, mini pleat HEPA filters are pleated with a thermo-plastic separating spacer applied to the media during manufacture.

This unique feature offers a much greater media area and consequently greater permissible air volume when compared with the older deep fold type filters.

AIR FLOW RATE CAPABILITY:

Our mini pleat HEPA filters are capable of handling air velocities of 2,5 m/s instead of the normal 1,25 m/s, which means a much lower pressure drop in comparison with the older, deeper fold type filters.

The purpose of HEPA filters are to remove particulates/aerosols such as micro-organisms, from the air, in order to provide a clean, uncontaminated flow of air over a certain surface area.

The HEPA filter does not however have the ability to remove vapors or gases.

HEPA filters used in clean benches, biosafety cabinets and laminar flow hoods are required to have a minimum filtration efficiency of 99.995 % against airborne particles 0.3 microns in size and larger.

Smaller particles that 0.3 microns may be able to pass through filters with an H14 rating. If you require a more stringent filtration efficiency, a U15/U16 ULPA Filter will be better suited for the application at hand.

Definition of Laminar flow:- A Unidirectional constant flow of air with no, or minimal turbulence generated.

The Airflow velocity required to achieve laminar flow, is a standard which remains between 0.3m/s to 0.5m/s.

CALCULATION OF NOMINAL AIRFLOW RATE, FOR ANY UNIDIRECTIONAL HEPA FILTER IS AS FOLLOWS:-

Width (W) X Height (H) X RATED VELOCITY (0.45M/S)

EXAMPLE using a 1220x610x68mm filter:

1220 mm x610 mm x 0.45m/s

( convert mm to m )

1.22 x 0.61 x 0.45

= 0.335 m³/s x 3600(how many seconds are in an hour)

= 1206 m³/h

You now know the required airflow in order to power a 1220x610x68mm HEPA filter.

Time for you to find a fan capable of blowing 1206 m³/h!

Use the same formula, substituted by the preferred size filter, in order to find a suitable fan for the filter of choice!
